DJ DNA
Born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Baltimore, Nate “DJ WildChild DNA” Anderson has spent more than 20 years on the side of the music industry most DJs never see: the side where hits get made.
At Morgan State University, he launched his own promotions company, Round Table Entertainment (later Round Table Music Group). He threw college events and pushed his mixtapes across the country and overseas. On the side, he did promo work for Polygram Distribution, Def Jam Recordings, and EMI Distribution, learning firsthand how records break.
After graduating in 2000, he went pro as an independent record promoter with A.I.R. (Active Industry Research). He worked with VPs at every major label to help break and reignite careers for Alicia Keys, Musiq Soulchild, Nas, Missy Elliott, Jaheim, Glen Lewis, and more.
Then came radio. In 2004, he landed his own bi-weekly national mixshow on XM Satellite Radio’s 66RAW, a five-year run. In 2009, Music Choice recruited him as the first featured mixer on its CHR/Top 40 channel, MC Mixtape. That same year, he launched 66RAW.com (now 66RAW.net), the online home of the station, and soon became a co-owner of the brand.
His track record:
-
300+ mixtapes. His series helped break K. Michelle, Trey Songz, Rick Ross, Young Jeezy, The Game, The Diplomats, and Raheem DeVaughn.
-
Brand partnerships. Grey Goose, Crown Royal, Mitchell & Ness, Jive Records, and Parish-Nation Clothing, plus NFL and NBA athletes.
-
Press and recognition. Featured in Hip Hop Weekly, Ozone Magazine, and MTV.com. Nominated at New York’s Justo’s Mixtape Awards. Voted Baltimore’s Best Hip Hop DJ by Baltimore City Paper. Featured guest on SiriusXM’s Sway in the Morning.
-
He’s a member of Core DJs, the world’s largest DJ coalition, and the DMV’s Vintage Crew DJs. He’s played rooms from Philadelphia to Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Miami, Atlanta, and New York, and overseas in Okinawa, Portugal, Costa Rica, Curaçao, and Tenerife.
Two decades of knowing what a crowd wants before the crowd knows it. That’s the ear DNA brings to every Limelight night.
